10/29/2025 – Two members of the Russian mob Gulici were sentenced to jail after attempting to kill Iranian American journalist Masih Alinejad on behalf of the Iranian government. The Iranian government had made previous attempts to silence Alinejad through harassment and intimidation before offering a half million dollar bounty for her killing. These attempts were seen as punishment for Alinejad’s activism on behalf of women still in Iran.

The regime has made considerable use of criminal organizations to act as intermediaries to carry out these acts. Western governments have been active in stopping these efforts, including targets against President Donald Trump and others within the United States and United Kingdom.

Transnational repression in London perpetrated by Iran has grown following unrest in Iran beginning in 2022.
